Feedback from our AGM 2019

1 May 2019
Hi everybody, we held our AGM last week after a relaxing if cool paddle around Errwood, which was looking especially beautiful, I thought.
The good news is that we are still solvent and still viable but we could do with some new members. So come along and bring your friends.
The committee is much the same although we have rearranged the deckchairs. Derek Rudeforth remains chair with Jannine Lunney  and me, Andy Bolger, swapping roles so Jannine is now vice-chair and I’m secretary. Alan Riggott continues to be our treasurer, Mick Chappell our equipment and safety officer, Jean Vale our social secretary and Geoff Shoults publicity officer.
Club funds have diminished due, in part, to increases in expenses so we decided that we should increase the adult membership fee to £40 per annum (payable now please) and £60 for family membership (i.e. an adult plus one or more children) and £20 for junior membership. Potential new members and guests will be charged a £5 introductory membership, up to a maximum of 3 sessions.
We, also, decided to rationalise our boat and kit hire fees. £5 will cover a boat plus all equipment (paddle, buoyancy aid, spray deck cagoule etc) if you’ve brought your own boat but forgotten your paddle, say, individual items of kit will be hired at £1 per item.
So if you are a newcomer you can have  up to three introductory sessions, including boat and kit hire for £10 per session, or join straight away and save £15!
As well as a regular Thursday paddle (we aim to open the gate at 6 p.m.) we are planning trips to Rudyard, Tittesworth, Pembroke (experienced sea kayakers only) and Ullswater, so watch this space!
