01 May 2019; Feedback from our AGM 2019

Hi everybody, we held our AGM last week after a relaxing if cool paddle around Errwood, which was looking especially beautiful, I thought.
The good news is that we are still solvent and still viable but we could do with some new members. So come along and bring your friends.
The committee is much the same although we have rearranged the deckchairs. Derek Rudeforth remains chair with Jannine Lunney and me, Andy Bolger, swapping roles so Jannine is now vice-chair and I’m secretary. Alan Riggott continues to be our treasurer, Mick Chappell our equipment and safety officer, Jean Vale our social secretary and Geoff Shoults publicity officer.
Club funds have diminished due, in part, to increases in expenses so we decided that we should increase the adult membership fee to £40 per annum (payable now please) and £60 for family membership (i.e. an adult plus one or more children) and £20 for junior membership. Potential new members and guests will be charged a £5 introductory membership, up to a maximum of 3 sessions.
We, also, decided to rationalise our boat and kit hire fees. £5 will cover a boat plus all equipment (paddle, buoyancy aid, spray deck cagoule etc) if you’ve brought your own boat but forgotten your paddle, say, individual items of kit will be hired at £1 per item.
So if you are a newcomer you can have up to three introductory sessions, including boat and kit hire for £10 per session, or join straight away and save £15!
As well as a regular Thursday paddle (we aim to open the gate at 6 p.m.) we are planning trips to Rudyard, Tittesworth, Pembroke (experienced sea kayakers only) and Ullswater, so watch this space!

04 May 2017; Changes to forum

At a meeting on the 4th May, the club committee decided that the forum was not liked by the members and they would prefer a public message board. The forum has been now been removed and will be replaced with a message board ASAP.

21 January 2017; Change to membership period

At the AGM earlier this month, the membership system was changed from one “12 months from whenever you join” to one where membership renewal is due on the 1st April each year and runs until 31st March the following year. Membership forms are available to download here on the website. Anyone renewing their membership before April 2017 will be considered members until the end of March 2018.

20 October 2016; Illuminated Paddle at Errwood.

This is the last Thursday evening paddle of the year at Errwood. Mark will be opening up at 5pm and anybody wanting to paddle will need to have a light. No coaching will take place – sunset is just before 6pm – so it will be dusk soon after. Members paddling will be checked on and off the water.

6 October 2016; Errwood Sailing Club; New club house.

Work on the club house at Errwood is now complete and Errwood Sailing Club (ESC) has invited all Peak Paddlers to the opening on Sunday 6 November. Full details to follow when they are finalised.

With the building work finished there will be a work party to do a general tidy up at Errwood on Saturday 15 October starting at 9:30. Volunteer helpers are welcomed.
